Women's General Mental Health

As females we face our fair share of trials and tribulations!

Throughout the various stages of our lives there can be situations where you may feel confused, misunderstood, not heard and even, alone. Sometimes our support network is lacking or too judgmental and we feel overwhelmed by the expectations of others. Often the way forward can seem like too much of a challenge and we withdraw not dealing with our emotions and feelings. This can in turn result in anxiety, depression, lack of confidence and fear of the unknown creating limiting beliefs in ourself  and how best to move forward.

It can be easier to talk to someone completely removed from your inner circle providing a different, non-judgemental perspective.  A space to feel heard, validated and respected, important aspects of your mental health well-being.

It can be very liberating to acknowledge and discuss how you are feeling with another female who can possibly relate to where you are coming from and can help to normalise your experiences.

Relationships & Conflict Resolution

Our whole world is made up of relationships. They may be with family members, partners, friends, work colleagues, neighbours and the like. Sometimes things don’t run as smoothly as we would hope they do in our conversations with others. There can be tension and misunderstandings due to our different communication styles. These differences can lead to feelings of not being heard or our opinions not valued creating friction in the interaction with others.

Learning to listen, manage our own expectations and communication style is the start of successful conflict resolution. These key factors often go unconsidered as we battle with one another seemingly going in circles or even reaching a complete stalemate! This is a common thread in many relationships and it is completely normal to feel confused, uncertain and like there is no way forward without conflict.

Resolution can feel seemingly impossible in some relationships. There is hope, do not despair! Together we can work through your issues and find a positive way to reconnect with others.

Grief & Loss

Feelings of grief and loss are as unique and individual as you are. The experience can be very profound and intense and sometimes rock you to the core such as the passing of a loved one.

Other types of grief and loss may initially seem less significant although symptoms can arise which impact on your well-being if not acknowledged and managed. Such losses may include the loss of a job, a friendship, a pet or lifestyle aspect. Everyone grieves in their own way and their own time.

There is no set of rules on how to grieve as each person manages their grief and loss in a way that allows them to accept and integrate it enabling some emotional comfort as you move forward with your life. Some common symptoms of grief and loss include (but not limited to):

  • Appetite changes

  • Anger

  • Anxiety

  • Concentration issues

  • Depression

  • Guilt

  • Lack of interest and hope

  • Loneliness

  • Mood swings

  • Sleep interruption

When affected by thoughts, feelings and emotions connected to grief and loss, our everyday functioning capabilities can be significantly impaired. If you feel that you are losing yourself to the negative impacts of grief and can’t escape the gloom then perhaps you might consider grief counselling to help manage these feelings of hopelessness. Your healing journey can include tools to help you rediscover your resilience and resourcefulness, restoring your faith in life despite your loss.
